Coxlease - Special Education School

The acquisition of this special needs school in South East England was arranged by Tadhamon Capital for a consortium of investors for US$ 28 million in November 2010. The transaction was a sale and leaseback to Priory Education, a leader in the field of specialist education in the UK. Comprising five school buildings set in 12 acres of grounds, Coxlease caters for boys between 9 and 18 years with severe behavioural, emotional, social and learning difficulties.
The 30 years lease on the property is guaranteed by the parent company, Priory Group, which was established in 1980 and is now Europe’s leading independent provider of special needs healthcare, specialist education, and other related services, with over 50 facilities across the UK. The Priory Group was bought out by US private equity firm Advent in 2011, underlining the attractiveness of the sector as a whole, and the strength of Priory’s business model.
Today the property hosts two schools Clayhill and Coxleas.Both are a specialist schools for children aged 9 to 18 with severe behavioral, emotional and social difficulties. The property covers 12 acres of grounds and 5 school buildings.
